A residential sewer lateral in Oakley, CA, experienced root intrusion near a palm tree in the front landscaping. The affected underground sewer line included 4-inch terra-cotta and ABS piping. The damaged section required excavation and a localized sewer repair to restore proper drainage and provide reliable access for future maintenance.
The solution
What our team did.
Our In Demand Plumbing, Heating & Air technicians excavated approximately 5 feet to expose the affected underground sewer lateral. After exposing the existing piping, our team removed the necessary sections of 4-inch terra-cotta and ABS sewer pipe and completed a localized sewer spot repair using approved underground repair materials and ABS piping. We also installed a new two-way sewer cleanout to provide improved access for future drain cleaning, sewer camera inspections, and maintenance. After completing the connections, our technicians checked the repaired piping for leaks. The work passed inspection, and the excavation was backfilled and compacted as best as possible. Additional plumbing work included resetting an upstairs toilet and installing a new 3/4-inch water heater ball valve.
